I had the pleasure of working with Raymond Parsons on a short film project entitled Acrylic. As this was my first short film project, I needed a skilled and capable cinematographer to lens the film with. I was initially concerned going into the hiring the process because of technical and creative demands the role required: access to costly lighting and camera equipment along with a keen eye for shot composition and motivated camera movement. Luckily, I came across Raymond who not only met the requirements the project imposed, but exceeded expectations when it came time to shoot the film. The results that we were able to achieve given his expertise in professional-grade equipment really elevated our film to the next level in terms of the look and feel; it is reminiscent of real Hollywood productions. Additionally, Raymond also facilitated film editing and color grading. I particularly enjoyed editing with him because of how smooth his workflow in Davinci Resolve is. Finally, Raymond is very personable and has great management skills evident by his ability to run a camera crew (1st AC, 2nd AC and gaffer) smoothly and efficiently. Overall, I would recommend Raymond to anyone from first-time filmmakers to seasoned veterans when it comes to open Director of Photography/Cinematographer positions!
